Waterkwaliteit en Toekomstige Generaties: Deb Swackhamer bij TEDx

Dr. Deborah L. Swackhamer is hoogleraar Wetenschap, Technologie en Public Policy in het Hubert H, Humphrey School of Public Affairs, en co-directeur van het Wateronderzoekcentrum van de universiteit. Ze is ook hoogleraar ‘Environmental Health Sciences’ in de School of Public Health, en is opgeleid als milieu-chemicus. Ze werd lid van de Minnesota faculteit in 1987.

She studies the processes affecting the behavior of, and exposures to, toxic chemicals in the environment and works on policies to address these potential risks. When not in the classroom or lab, she serves as Chair of the Science Advisory Board of the US EPA and several NAS/NRC committees. In 2009 she received the prestigious Founders Award from the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry for lifetime achievement in environmental sciences.

Ze bestudeert de processen die van invloed zijn op het gedrag van, en blootstelling aan giftige chemicaliën in het milieu en werkt aan een beleid om deze potentiële risico’s aan te pakken. Als zij niet in de klas of lab staat, fungeert zij als voorzitter van de Science Advisory Board van de VS, (EPA) en verschillende NAS / NRC commissies. In 2009 ontving ze de prestigieuze Founders Award van de Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry voor lifetime achievement in milieuwetenschappen.
